PCIC Europe Conference Technical Program published
The 11th conference of the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC) Europe will take place in Amsterdam on June 3rd to 5th 2014.
Dedicated to the automation and electrical engineers of the oil and gas and petrochemical industry, the PCIC Europe Conference imposed itself as the must attend event to upgrade its competence level, exchange experience and extend its personal network of experts.
Based on practical applications and presented by the best authors of leading edge companies, all the topics presented set new references in the oil and gas and petrochemical industry for the electrical and instrumentation technologies.
In order to address all the levels of competence from junior engineers to the masters, the technical program of the PCIC Europe Conference in beginning with tutorials giving a broad view of the selected topics and is continuing with series of specific papers focusing on the most critical issues.
These topics are selected by the PCIC Europe Technical Committee where sit the best electrical and instrumentation experts of the oil and gas and petrochemical industry where:
– End Users and Engineering Companies are represented by BP, Dow Chemicals, ExxonMobil, Hess, Sabic, Shell, Statoil, Technip, Total
– Manufacturers delegate specialists from ABB, Eaton, Schneider-Electric, Siemens, Thermon
In addition the PCIC Europe Committee is closely teaming up with international organizations and institutions such as:
– IEEE-IAS-PCIC in USA
– OBIEC in Canada
– ZVEI in Germany
– IECEx
PCIC Europe Conference Strategic Topics & Tutorials
For the Amsterdam Conference the PCIC Europe Technical Committee selected strategic topics to focus on:
– Personal Safety
– Extreme Environment
– Good Design Practices
– Equipment, Systems and Components
In that respect the Tutorials will invite you to capture all the theory and practice about:
– Application and Management of Plant Lighting
– Hazardous Area Electrical Installations – Avoiding Common Pitfalls
All the details of the Technical Program are then available on the PCIC Europe Conference
PCIC Europe Istanbul Conference Best Voted Papers
To appreciate the consistency of the PCIC Europe Conference, the easiest way may be to have a look into the best voted papers of the previous conference which took place in Istanbul in 2013.
Technip – Monetization of associated gas from offshore fields by electrical power generation
Oil fields always contain a mix of product including associated gases. Flaring these gases is now prohibited and in locations offshore, their management can be challenging. These gases can be used in onsite energy production. But in most cases, the amount of produced gas largely exceeds platform fuel gas requirement. Exporting this gas by a subsea pipeline can be quite costly, particularly as water depth increases
GE – Qualification and Acceptance Testing of Large Motors High Voltage Insulation Systems for the Petrochemical Industry
This paper describes typical insulation system components used for a multi-turn form wound coil design, and the stresses that various parts of the system will face while in service. It presents a recommended qualification plan using industry-standard test methods to evaluate long-term reliability of a vacuum-pressure impregnated (VPI) insulation system under sinusoidal voltage supply. It describes the diagnostic- and withstand electrical tests for the “routine” and “special” acceptance tests, especially employed for petrochemical industry, where data may be used to establish a baseline condition assessment unique to the machine.
Total – Selection of Power From Shore for an Offshore oil and Gas Development
This paper discusses the criteria which have been considered to select a power from shore concept instead of an offshore Gas Turbine power plant which is the current practice in the offshore Oil and Gas industry. Since in a first approach, for such long step-out distance, the choice of power from shore would be to select a DC transmission line, the paper discusses the design and the main technical challenges of this long step-out AC transmission development.
Because of the highly technical content of these PCIC Europe Conference, the profile of the attendees is rather unique as:
– Covering 40 countries
– Balanced between the number of End User -Engineering Companies representatives and the number of Manufacturers
For these reasons the PCIC Europe Conference has become the premier forum for all electrical and automation engineers of the oil and gas and petrochemical industry.
