The national India Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is a major local offshore drilling rigs operator and still intends to do so as to support the off Eastern India Oil & Gas fields development.
With more than 120 blocks to explore, ONGC will have to ramp up its drilling rigs fleet. Most of its actual rigs are more than 25 years old, so they will need to be revamped in the best case or to be replaced.
As a result, ONGC must develop a new generation of Jack-up and has planned a significant effort that should consume the major part of the $4.6 billion in Capital Expenditures budgeted next year.
To support this campaign, ONGC will mobilize the local contractors such as Greatship, Deep Water Drilling, Aban Offshore and Jindal drilling.
