HPL to prioritize SBR & Butene-1 in its $1 billion petrochemical projectHaldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) is a competitive modern naphtha based Petrochemical Complex located 125 kms from Kolkata, at Haldia, West Bengal, India.

HPL is the second largest petrochemical industry in India with a total capacity equivalent to 7, 00,000 TPA of ethylene.

Now HPL is planning a $1 billion (Rs 4,000 crore) capital expenditure project over the next three years.

With eight production units it will include Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) , Butene-1, Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer (EPDM) and Maleic Anhydrid

HPL will supply the Butadiene feedstock.
For this project, HPL is building alliances with European partners in order to begin the development with the SBR and Butene-1 production units to cost $250 million and $50 million respectively.
