BP Projects and Business Highlights
BP was severely hurt by the Gulf of Mexico incident, losing up to 30% of its value.
All the lessons learnt from Gulf of Mexico may not be all drawn up yet, but since the incident all the companies and countries having offshore operations are working on them to improve safety, environment protection and good operating practices.
Beside all the financial and legal aspects which may take years for conclusions, BP created the program Gulf of Mexico restoration, by which BP intents to be best in class on measuring the impacts and implement as many restoration projects.
This program is of course unique in an oil and gas company, but BP tries to use it as a major source of experiments for the development of preventive solutions and new technologies associated to the offshore exploration and production.
Regarding the conventional activity, BP’s most important projects are:
– Mad Dog Phase 2 in Gulf of Mexico
– Clair Ridge in UK North Sea
– West Nile Delta (WND) Gas in Egypt
– Oman Full Field Development in Oman
